How much has the world changed over the past twelve months?

The way we answer this question may be as intriguing as our response. News of social and political change and global events filter through our lens of personal experience. There they evolve into our perception of problems versus blessings.

What may be missing from our calculations, though, is the potency of subtle change and creeping "gradualism". As well as the fact that the collective effect of change is often dimmed against everything that seems to remain the same.

This past year has provided us with at least one clear reminder that much can change in an instant. Perhaps it's time, however, to monitor and catalogue the less obvious, the gradual, and even the nuances that seem relevant as we continue to keep watch over time.

"But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief."

I Thessalonians 5:4 KJV
