balance

Achieving optimal balance within ourselves and in the world around us is a deeply personal quest, especially when considered alongside our own end times views. To what extent does one balance personal needs and wants on a languishing planet? How do we divide our hopes, dreams and responsibilities between heaven and earth? What does emotional balance look like on those days when we are blanketed with news of terrorism and tragedy? As we reflect on the past, present, and future, the Lord's Prayer provides the ultimate structure within which, in varying times and seasons, we may pause and linger over particular words and phrases: "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Gives us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever, Amen."

Matthew 6:9-13 KJV
