Interruption

A nearby botanical garden has been a refuge for quiet walks and prayer for many years. Recently, though, it is going through an "upgrade". Intrusive signs have been positioned at eye level, providing dubious information about how the plants evolved. Scented shrubs have been removed to make space for a designated meditation area. Fruit trees have been chopped down to make way for a learning centre. It is well on its way to becoming a microcosm of human ideas about creation, rather than a retreat to enjoy God's creation.

And as the sound of a chainsaw threatened to cut into my prayer this past visit, I was reminded that interruptions are an opportunity to learn to pray without ceasing.

"Pray without ceasing."

1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV
