Astonishing Peace

Looking out over the passing scenes of our end times world can be heart-wrenching for those of us who study the Bible.

After the events of October 7, 2023 in Israel, tears are often in our thoughts. I'm reminded of how Jesus wept over Jerusalem, knowing what was and is to come.

Many of us have experienced difficulties too painful to even think about too much. The world is filled with evil beyond our comprehension. Even so, those who trust in Jesus reside in His peace. We know our Heavenly Father is all-powerful and all-knowing. Righteousness and justice will ultimately prevail.

Permanent peace is something humanity craves but will never have under human rule. We who have Christ on the throne have His peace wrapped around our hearts and minds, cushioning us from the deluge of the enemy. It's a miracle, an astonishing miracle, and one for which I'm increasingly thankful with each passing day.

"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,

shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:7 KJV

So very true! With everything that is happening, it seems Christ’s return is near - yet my grandmother thought the same thing due to what was happening in the world. But she had peace in Christ and looked forward to His return. I don’t know how people can survive and have any kind of peace without Him. It seems the majority turn to drugs and alcohol to escape or to try to enjoy life, but they are actually destroying their lives. Others turn to money, status, power - all of which are temporary and still leave a void. None of the alternatives to Christ bring the peace only He can.

Yes, so very true. What a blessing it is to belong to Jesus. "For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me. Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength. Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth." Psalm 31:3-5 KJV
