Diabolical Suggestion

An art teacher once provided me with examples of artwork by the most financially successful artists. On going through them I realized they had one thing in common - they were expressing something bizarre and often perverse.

This experience helped explain how the world operates today. It's difficult for anyone to get writing published, art accepted or music produced without including something vulgar.

The arts world has been operating like this for a very long time. Shock is valued, it sells for the highest price. Humanity has been subtly programmed to expect and admire evil, to accept the idea that "breaking barriers" is always desirable.

As Bible-believing followers of Jesus, we need not be surprised by this situation. God's Word speaks to us about an increase in wickedness around the time of the end, about great deception, even delusion.

As we witness these things transpire, it's helpful to remember we are not part of the world's system. We can fill our eyes, ears, minds and hearts with what is pure, beautiful and natural, in harmony with God's design. Our creative abilities can be used for what is pleasing to the Lord.

While the world is waiting for the next diabolical suggestion, we are set apart to glorify God.

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8 KJV
