Hope of Israel

"And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered."

Heavenly Father, God of Israel, Holy One of Israel, Rock of Israel, Redeemer of Israel, Mighty One of Israel, Hope of Israel:

Hear our prayer for the peace of Jerusalem, for your kingdom to come, for your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Forgive us for our tendency to draw closer to world news than to you in these evil days, for choosing to listen to opinions and speculation over communion with you. Help us to keep our ears tuned to your Word and our eyes fixed on you, our Shepherd, our peace.

Draw us closer, turn our hearts to desire what you desire and to love as you love. To love your chosen people as you have loved us. Forgive us for putting ourselves first, for our indifference.

Protect us from false teaching, from those who seek to change and interpret your everlasting Word for their own purposes. Correct those who identify as part of the church but have replaced your will with their own. Open their eyes to truth.

Wake up the true church. Teach us to do your will so your light in us draws others to you and brings glory to your name.

We pray in Jesus' precious name, Amen.
