Truth

At this time of year, with shorter and darker days, it's easy to lose track of time and let the daylight slip away.

So it is when we get caught in the news cycle of the world. The storylines draw us into shadowy tunnels. But light from God's Word stops us in our tracks. It's heavenly and leaves us nowhere to look but up.

And right now we do so need to be looking up. There is very little truth found in the world, and we want to be found reflecting truth.

Truth includes the truth about Israel, God's treasured possession. People are having a difficult time with that, even in the church. They're reading the world but not always the Word. Some don't understand the glorious abundance of God, how He could have a "chosen people" and also have chosen you and I. Others have been given over to the false narrative of self-appointed "truth tellers" who use the Word of God for their own devices.

The Bible reminds us time is short. As believers in Jesus we are "of the day, not of the night" (1 Thessalonians 5:5). When we keep our minds fixed on our Heavenly Father we can rest in the inexpressible beauty of His eternal Word.

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;

that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you

out of darkness into his marvellous light;"

1 Peter 2:9 KJV
